TORRES DEL PAINE NATIONAL PARK South America's most famous park lies just north of Puerto Natales in far southern Chile. Small but stunningly spectacular, Torres del Paine is sandwiched between the vast windswept steppes of Patagonia and the massive southern continental icesheet that feeds glaciers into the park. Rising out of a flat and barren plain, three frost-polished columns of pink granite, Las Torres (towers), are what give the park its name. Photographs © Walt Clayton III All Rights Reserved
